Just a refresh on the panel

Since our defeat to Westmeath roughly 6 weeks ago.

The Departed

1reilly js
Patrick Reilly and James Stewart

Both has decided to go to the US for the summer and they are massive losses on so many levels.
These lads were in their second season with Louth and both started the last day out.
They’ve both progressed this season, Reilly especially. The Full back berth looks to be his along as he wants it. Stewart whenever he has come in has been solid either in the half back or forward line.

You can’t begrudge them heading off to play ball and I won’t.
We’ll just miss them come Saturday and they’ll possibly miss out on the experience a qualifier can bring in terms of their development going forward.

dc
Derek Crilly

This is a real puzzler…

‘How a man of his calibre and servant to Louth football with his wealth of experience in these bleak times is allowed walk away from the set up?’

screams all that is wrong with the set up if you ask me.

The Arrivals

We’ll end on a positive, shall we?

jimmckeever
Jim McEneaney and Conall McKeever

Nothing better or positive than an influx of talented forwards to a group.
That’s what these two bring.
Jim you will know having been there before but the lesser know Conall McKeever from the Clans is one to look out for.
Both were key to junior team good performances recently and really push themselves into contention for a starting place along with Gea McSorley and Peach (below) who joined just before the Westmeath game.

It gets better.

Minors

If good forwards give you a boost what about an influx of youth?
Rumours are rife around the county of some of our talented minors from this year have been drafted into the panel.

This is great for their development and Louth football going forward!
Getting these lads familiar with an inter-county set up gives us the best chance of them sticking around and reaching their potential.

I’ll be picking my team and some of these arrivals could feature.

With the worst defensive record in the league and after one championship match it was time to change the defence anyway.

Suprised Dan Bannon from Mattock Rangers isn’t on at least the junior panel. Very good fielder and all round midfielder.
