IFCfinal(1)

Thrilling Game yesterday and The Point Road men were well deserved Winners!
Here’s my scrap book from the day

This game was all about the start and the O’Mahonys got it, in both halves. As a result the Fechins were chasing their tails all day, their system from then on was defunct. Credit to them for coming back in the middle of the second half showed real character, they have talent and youth to come again. Especially Niall McCabe and Paul Matthews they re one’s to keep an eye on in the future.

However the day was about the Sean O’Mahony’s JOBsers calmness at the back controlled things…while Peter Nixon had a great battle with Bevan Duffy…up front, Stephen Fisher was highly productive and Crawley on the edge of the Square was something the Fechins badly could have done with. The ploy of high ball in didn’t work all the time one of them was enough!! and here it is: The Goal that won the IFC championship 2014 www.louthandProud.com #louthandproud

and I’ll leave you with the poignant image of the day, Conor Finnegan Standing over a free….his deadball kicking was excellent….6 out of 7 crucial. My MOTM.

SOM

Well done to all, They now play Caulry, Westmeath Champions away, next Sunday.

SOM deserved their victory, should have lead by 6 to 8 points at 1/2 time. But fair play to Fechins they came from 8 pts behing after 10 mins of 2nd half to draw level and threat us neutrals to a grandstand finish. Fechins should have had a 2nd penalty, it was the only mistake the referee made in a good game for him, Finneagn deserved MOM for his free taking and his good contribution in open play. Nixon and Brennan won midfield battle and Crawley was always gone to get a fist to one of those high balls in. Deserved victory for SOM but they made it hard for themselves,
