In this football dominant county of ours, Spare a thought for our hurlers.
Having been defeated by Donegal the weekend their season is over…
Full Championship season over before it began.
It began only 2 weeks ago, it being The Nicky Rackard cup….where they were unlucky to lose narrowly to Fingal on the 3rd of May…..but they dusted themselves down and beat Sligo convincingly on the 10th only to lose at the weekend to Donegal on the 17th.
Season over in 14 days doesn’t seem right to me….sure, if they won it would extend the year somewhat but in general the competition doesn’t incentivise Hurling in this county which I would have thought was the whole purpose of it in general!
After a winter of league hurling and for their championship to be run off in a quick tangent….please spare a thought for our Hurlers.
They sure as hell don’t have it easy.
