New Year, Same Result, Different performance

So we started 2016 with a familiar loss but there were some positives in our performance.

We went into the game without 3 players that are college tied. They were: Conor Grimes DIT, Paddy Reilly UCD and Ryan Burns DCU. Those 3 lads would certainly be starting throw in Derek Maguire who is now seen as our sweeper that’s 4.

But the O’Byrne cups sole focus is to get ourselves set for the National league and it also gave other players opportunities.

David Quigley made his first Louth start, Keith McLaughlin came back in after being with AOR too.

One man who seized his opportunity was Jim McEneaney he finished with 1-5 in total. Getting a solid pre-season under his belt has benefited him and Louth in general.

However, getting back to the result we had enough possession, scorable frees and chances to win the game but we didn’t execute well enough.

That’s one thing we have to get right come the league so roll on Kildare Wednesday night.
Also, we can get another game under the new system and all the while testing out players aswell.

You have to love January!!

*Offaly won Division 4 last season, so we can still look to the league with expectations of winning it.

Were you in Darver yesterday? What did you think
