County Louth Cumann Peil Gael Na mBan

In 1976 the Louth ladies County board and team were formed, it was this year that Louth took part in their first ever Leinster Championship. Training started in April of that year and their first outing was to Meath where that game finished in a draw, the replay was to be in Ardee (Louth) and Louth came out with their first win. In the Semi-final Louth came away strong winners over Laois and progressed to the final where Offaly had the stronger team on the day.  Unfortunately after a very successful first year this team gave up and there was no County ladies football until it was re-organised in 1993. 1998 was to be Louth’s most successful year to date winning both a Leinster title and the Junior Championship; they were promoted to division 2. In 1999 Louth had another successful year and won the Intermediate Championship title and maintained their position in division 2. In 2010 Louth won another Leinster title and also saw themselves in the Junior championship final where they lost to Limerick, however in 2012 Louth reached the Junior championship again and this time were defeated by a very strong Antrim side.  Louth are very happy to be in the Leinster final today and hope to make some more history in 2014.
