I’ll pick my team to face Dublin on Sunday, Can you pick yours?

Very tough team to pick but an eye on the league has to be taken into account also.

Goals

Craig Lynch
Rationale:

Confirmed his place last weekend against Meath.  With four home games in the league the kick out practice in fortress Drogheda will be more than welcome. They are that important.

Full Back Line

Pop, Paddy Reilly, Kevin Carr
Rationale:
Very hard to shift anyone out of this rock solid full back line. Reilly may have picked up a knock so don’t be surprised to see John Bingham start. The Ardee man is very able replacement.

Sweeper

Derek Maguire
Rationale:
He is mastering the position every time he plays and he needs to play, every time.

Half Back Line

Decky Byrne, Liam Dullaghan,Anthony Williams
Rationale:
What a year in football Liam Dullaghan is having. First Joe Ward title and now in the Louth side. Super fit and forced his way in ahead of Darren McMahon and James Stewart. Great replacements to have. Decky and Williams to continue their good form also.

Midfield

Andy McDonnell, Tommy Durnin
Rationale:
Peach and Conor Martin are strong contenders and may eventually push Andy further up the field. However these two provided a real platform and strong partnership against an impressive Meath pairing. They looked like they play together for years Sunday will be the second time ever!

Half Forward Line

Adrian Reid,Pepe Smith,Ruairi Moore
Rationale:
Chief work horses Bevan and McKeever might be put in the stable for this one.
Sure, they have performed really well and the wing spots are theirs for the league, but Brannigan,Reido,Moore et al could be used to give them a breather ahead of the league.
Regardless of the fact that it is a final, we need to focus on the league and besides, the team quality wouldn’t dip in any way either.
Pepe on the other hand needs more games and more time on the forty ahead of the league campaign.

Full Forward Line

Jim McEneaney, Ryan Burns
Rationale:
Like I said last week Jim needs a start and Sunday’s extra game again will provide it.
Louth could use him a ploy, where he swaps in and out with Pepe throughout the game too. Both are comfortable inside and creating out deeper.
This is nearest to our starting team as possible and I know youngsters Nally and Mulroy have impressed but we need to see Burnsey in red and white again. This game provides an ideal opportunity to see him in action before the league.
