Repeat of last years epic semi final that went to a replay

senior semi

Could a draw be on the cards again?? Read my preview here

This really is a Mouth watering tie…
2013 Champs play 2011/12 Champs!

As I begin to write this I haven’t fully decided on who will win hopefully by the end of the preview I will!

No doubt about it the Blues as reigning champions are favourites going into the tie but that does not worry the Pats one bit.

The sheer attacking power potency of the Blues is like no other in the county….6 forwards, a strong bench and half back line that can score at ease and at times can completely swarm you…..

The Pats have resorted back to type, drafting in their usual crew and will happily go to the well for one more time…

This is what makes this Louth Senior semi final  so interesting and so hard to call.! The Blues by far have a better team, form and momemtum but you still can discount the Pats as this could be their last throw of the dice!

Key Match UP Midfield area PK and John Kermode.
Kermode’s performance swung the tie the last year, Expect PK to come and try settle a score.

Verdict: Nope, I’m still not any clearer….a Draw? Hang on! Hang on!
Worryingly for the Blues they tend to ship big scores… and the return of Eoin O’Connor could give the Pats a lifeline.

But the blues can outscore any team but the Pats will not  be as porous as other sides in the county combine that with a revenge mission and it could be decided on the smallest factor like an injury or refereeing decision.

Feck it, I’m sticking my neck out and going for the Blues their forwards will find a way to win.

If you are in Haggardstown early Check out the U16 Championship semi final between the blues and St Kevin/Glyde combination throw in is at 6pm. Should be a cracker

Sprry lads. I know that the game is obviously now over and whe pats have won, but my opinion would have been the same if it was written before the tie. You have to look at the last two years form.
The pats have been the most consistent of these ywo across League and championship. So far the blues have been very poor in the league, and limped past the Geraldines. The pats are unbeaten in both league and Championship this year, and the lowest win they had in campo this year as by 5 points.
You will also note that in the semi replay last yeat the pats played 50 mins with 14 men and still only lost by 2 points

I think the Blues will walk this game….and the final, no matter who wins it..they have the balance in louth and fitness levels, like last year, have been very good! By the way, I’m not a Drogheda man so its a completely unbiased view!
