in County

Both counties named their teams were named last night.

Here’s my reaction to them and how they line out and match ups and so much more!

The Louth Team

We’ve picked the same team.
When I heard the team this morning I was disappointed.

Since then, I’ve been mulling it over in my head and looking to find the positives but picking the same team for a different team and venue is just too hard to shake but, here goes…

There is some comfort in keeping the same fifteen, the manager has instilled trust in each player and they will know their role in the side too. That consistency within our side can only strengthen the system we play. The system which has been key to our success so far this season so that can only be a good thing, also if changes are needed it will easy to identify who needs to come in and who needs to be subbed.

The Meath Team

First of all, the opposite of us, Meath manager Mick O’Dowd picked a side best suited to play us.
That is clear from an number of positional selections.
Corner back Donnacha Tobin is a mobile half back and played centre back in the league I suspect he will either go out the field to pick up Bevan or play at 6 and let Padraic Harnan sweep actually that is more than likely going to happen.
Keoghan then goes on Burnsey and Mickey Burke on Grimes.

Graham Reilly has been plonked on the forty with a clear message if we run directly at Louth’s system they will find problems. Reilly is Meath’s strongest runner with the ball and has played midfield all season.
Cian O’Brien from Ratoath is named on the wing but is natural midfielder he’ll cover Tormeys attacking nature and help out for kickouts too. He’ll suit Decky and Williams can go on speedster O’Sullivan.

By the looks of it, Meath will play with two inside too, Paddy Reilly can follow Dalton McDonagh out comfortably if he goes out and If Wallace drops out the field(thats what we want him to do) that will suit us also and Newman will be inside at all times and marshaled by Captain Pop.

Reaction Summary

Okay I’m feeling more positive now.

All in all, this Meath team does not hold any fear factor whatsoever.
It’s a side we are certainly well capable of beating.
We match up well in all areas with a few doubts but like I said, we have options to come in and do a job also.

My Preview will be up in the morning, thanks for reading
