Here’s my Talking Pointsfrom last nights game in Darver.

Squad Life

Last night saw Adrian Reid, James Stewart, Jim McEneaney Conor Brannigan and a goalkeeper (which I’ll get to next) get minutes for the first time this year.
That’s another five lads into the mix Promising signs for our ever growing squad depth.

KeepingGoal

Last night Joe Flanagan from the O’Raghaillaghs got a start between the sticks. He’s seemed to have pushed himself above Gally in the pecking order as a result.

He actually could give Craig Lynch a run for his money too…he is well versed and confident in his short kick-outs. He also has range to go long if wants too.

We could well have new number 1. Watch this space.

Debutant

DYI forward Dean Maguire made his Louth debut in the corner and bagged himself a goal.
Pacy attacker is yet another man to put his hand up!

Varsity boys

Ryan Burns came off the bench and scored two points in their defeat to Wexford.
While Andy McDonnell lined out in the middle of the field for UCD in their win over the Dubs third string.

Glyde Rep

So how did Louth’s Mystery man get on?
Maynooth’s only Louth representative Ciarain Sheridan did not play in the middle as was suggested in the preview.
The Tallanstown man lined out in a deep lying centre half role and played quite well, keeping Pepe Smith scoreless.

Group Topping

With two wins and a home tie this weekend we really are in the driving seat for a semi final place as group winners.

However, Westmeath beat Carlow last night by 3 and they have Maynooth next.

We win or Draw and there is no need for a calculator!
But and it is a big but if we lose to Carlow the group winner will be decided on score difference and currently:
We are +6
Westmeath are +2
Carlow are +7

So the scenario is…
Carlow beat us and they could go through on four points but Westmeath are likely to rack up a big score and possibly go through themselves on four points.
