Wow, those three weeks since the win over Westmeath have just flown by…the thoughts of heading up to croker today has me giddy.

I’ve gone up and down and again in my outlook for today’s game but one thing I know for certain is that it is going to be a step up from the opening round.

Just like Westmeath the last day, Kildare are favourites and they are full value for it, they are a  defacto Division one team,  a panel packed with talent overflowing into their bench and they beat us last year for christ sake!

Another factor is their manager Jason Ryan, he is one of the best managers around and a massive step up from Paul Bealin.

even the venue, Croke park!

Everything is a step up today even down our own expectations!

Kildare know Croke park, Kildare know we are no walkovers, Kildare know we possess talented players. Kildare’s manager knows the game as well as anyone.
The fact they know all this highlights the step up, So today is not going to be another (Mullingar) ambush.

Do we know we can Step up?
that is today’s most important question…

Can we confront this Leinster bully head on. I think we can, the players will believe so too.

I have faith in our manager and management team that they’ll have prepared us as best they could for today’s battle giving our lads every chance of answering these  questions the step ups require.

Forcing Kildare into the unknown will be the key.
Do they know their best team? Do they know who to go to without John Doyle, Do they know they can handle the pressure without him. Do they trust their manager.

To do so will take discipline, patience and above all, ferocious work rate.

We know we can do all of the above and if we do.
We know we can beat Kildare, let’s do it.

Things to expect: A host of thinkering and switches on both teams before the game starts,  Goals, Tomas O’Connor benching Croke park and Brian Donnelly’s best day in red.

Interesting Fact: The three best players from last years game will not be involved today, Ciaran Byrne and Daniel Flynn are now AFL Rookies with Carlton and Port Adelaide and a certain John Bingham Doyle!

Thanks for Reading not just today but all week!
