Louth Meath early thoughts

in County

With the game 5 days away

here’s the early thoughts

Our Team

We’ve been lucky to be picking off a tight squad that will not face a radical overhaul with college players and injuries.
It’s meant we’ve kept a settled but experimental team throughout the three games.

Their team

Meath on the other hand have been hit hard with Injuries and retirements plus college players and Meath club sides still in the all-Ireland series from Curraha and Ratoath not involved.

This has resulted in a quite experimental team yet, they still managed to get through so be under no illusions they’re gonna be tough to beat.

the Venue

Drogheda was confirmed on the Leinster GAA website, Lovely. We’ll need the experience of playing our system there too ahead of the league. Afterall, dragging Meath up to Dowdallshill could have been damaging to cross county relations!

the possible outcome effects

A win sets up another competitive fixture with possibly Dublin and a serious dose of confidence (However Dublin could take that away twice as quick in the final) and excitement around the county for a final would be great.
A loss will be fair game, 2 wins and an extra game is much more than we would have asked for after opening day loss to Offaly.
so we and management can’t lose

The league

Meath want to get up to Division 1. We want to get out of Division 4. This will go along way in determining our starting teams come the opening round of the league.

The slagging

Any win over Meath is great for the local bragging rights…The last time we played them we hammered them.
Easter Sunday 2012 in Navan we relegated them.
We don’t let them forget that.

The Enemy

We should be well able to beat Meath on Sunday. IN fact I make us slight favourites(scares me even typing that)
It will give us the perfect start to the season and psychologically to the squad ahead of a possible summer meeting too.

Bring it on!
