We play Wicklow. here’s the Preview.

Background

London, Wateford and now Wicklow.

In terms of levels of difficulty, our games have incrementally got tougher as we’ve gotten on in this years league campaign.

As a result, we’ve had time to settle into the league and our new system under Paddy Crozier. The three week break will also go along way in ironing out any flaws.

I highlighted earlier on in the week that this game is going to be quite the test. They have a balanced side and tight defence. They’ll bring a physicality we’ve not faced at all this season too.

We know they concede goals so it will be crucial go out and unlock their defence to get the win.

The pressure is on our forwards to come up with the goods. We need to get over 10 scores minimum to get the win.

Momentum

On Sunday our 100% record is on the line and importantly so is theirs.

Wicklow will not want to give it up easily.

The game is a 4 pointer at the top, in the shuffling for promotion.

It’s going to be tough, but not only that, it is the first game in a run of 3 games in 3 weekends in a row.
Momentum factor alone, it is crucial we get off on the right foot for the rest of the league and set us up for promotion.

London opener was about finding our feet, the game against Waterford was a character builder depending on our performance on Sunday, it either will mould us into champions or also rans.

Verdict

Our forwards should pass this test and get the win to end a bad week for Louth football.

Interesting Fact

Barry Kiernan the referee, reffed our loss to Meath in the O’Byrne cup semi final in Drogheda, he didn’t help our cause on the day but he’ll know Drogheda and our players, hopefully that familiarity gives us some favours on Sunday!
