Why does that name ring a bell? Find out below.

Ring a bell?

As everyone knows Dublin will have a second string side out this Sunday.
All their star names have been given some time off including manager Jim Gavin.
Hence why Paul Clarke’s name is in question. He is and has been the Dubs stand-in Manager for this O’Byrne Cup campaign.

However, that is not why Paul Clarke rings a bell with LouthandProud.

Here’s why

Way back in ’95, the 18th June 1995 to be exact.
Louth took on Dublin in the Leinster Championship in Navan.
Our manager Colin Kelly was in the corner for us and back then super athletic wing forward for Dublin was Paul Clarke.
Dublin won a penalty that day through Jayo Sherlock on his debut no less.

Clarke missed the penalty well Niall O’Donnell got down to excellently save.
So thats why the name Paul Clarke rings a bell.

Before you remind him of it on Sunday, they beat us 19 to 2-5 that day and went on to win the All-Ireland that year.

You can see Clans man O’Donnell’s moment and jersey of glory here 3 minutes in.

Niall has got his touch and shared his thoughts on the peno!
