Character building

As everyone is well aware, this is a new look Louth team and what goes with that is a lack of experience.

We’ve not won a league game out side of Louth in a very long time.
Armagh 2013 to be exact and before that, Meath in 2012.

This game not only offers us a chance to get a win on the road but an opportunity for our new lads and system to build some character.

The game will present a lot of obstacles that will test our character, travel down, new pitch and dogged opposition.

If we overcome them and take two points up the road.

It will build serious character and give us a boost of confidence which could be a turning point for our season.

Tough-er

6 Players from the county champions Stradbally have boycotted the Waterford panel in a dispute with the county board.

However, the déise will still be dogged, we struggled against them in 2011 and 2005 a qualifer game in Drogheda.

This is going to be a game we have to win rather than going out and letting them lose it for us.

They have a strong spine in Thomas O’Gorman at full back, their Captain Tommy Pendergast in the middle and a number of possible nuisances up front that could cause us problems.

levels

Looking at last weeks performance levels, if we play as we did against London, Waterford will beat us.

To get the win

We’ll need a lift in intensity all over the field and A more direct approach up front.

The mgmt and lads will feel it themselves all this week that they can’t wait to do themselves justice tomorrow.

Verdict

So, I suspect we will hit the ground running
and
I fully expect us to win by 4
and
have 4 points out of 4 on Sunday night.

Interesting facts:

On the side-line for Waterford is the new Cork ladies coach Ephie Fitzgerald.
