Preview of tomorrow’s big game

1london

can we kick off the league is style?

Our team

officialteamlondon

I have discussed our system and squad at length and tomorrow will be the day it gets an examination of sorts.

It is not about the opposition tomorrow it is about our performance levels.

If we are serious about promotion and as a county, we have to play to a high standard regardless of opposition.
Tomorrow our opposition just so happens to be London.

We nearly need to get our new style of play under new coach Paddy Crozier off to a good start rather than focusing on beating London.

If we do that then the result should take care of itself.

Role’s

Derek Maguire as our sweeper and the two lads up top have a massive responsibility to perform and the 11 other outfield players are entrusted to work their backsides off.

We can expect a massive boost off our bench with Colm Judge and Ryan Burns held in reserve while at the back Anthony Williams and SOM duo of Kurt Murphy and Keith McLoughlin gives us plenty of cover.

So with that competition already in the squad. There should be no cause for complacency lads will want to keep their jersey.

Opposition

London as always, have a huge turnover of players from season to season.

They only 5 players start from last years qualifier loss to Cavan.

However, they have a serious coach Ciaran Deely who has an excellent background in team preparation.
They will be fit and able if we are off they will be sticky, then it will come down to execution of skill.

Our aspirations

If it does come down to that, I’ll be very disappointed.

If we want to get promoted we win comfortably

If we want to go up as Division champions we have to set down a marker.

Verdict

In my best cockney accent
‘We got London at home, mate’
‘Yeah mate?’
‘Lets do them mate!’
yes lets…

Interesting Fact

Captain Adrian Reid makes his 100 appearance in red and white! Super achievement!!

Corona’s Lead singer Danny O’Reilly plays his club football for London side North London Shamrocks (he’s a handy player and did in fact play minor against Louth in 2003) Their captain is former DYI player Graham Carr

Louth will beat London today but as a fan who follows the team closely I’m expecting so much more. Listening carefully to pre and post match interviews with Louth players and management over the past number of weeks, I have lost count off how many times the player been interviewed or Colin Kelly framed their answers to questions with this London game as being what it is all about e.g. disappointing to loose today against Meath in a game we should have won but great preparation for the London game. This type of response is refective of a deep rooted issue in the Louth mindset. How can loosing a game you should have won great preparation, it’s not. Don’t get me wrong, it’s better than preparation than drinking pints in the pub, but not great preparation. The response if the mindset was right should be along the lines, “a good run out today against Meath but it’s simply not acceptable that we didn’t win that game and we will be working hard to analyse and address the reasons we did not win that game”. In saying all that, I’ll be there today supporting and wishing the Louth team and management well but as the whole pre season was framed around this game, I’m expecting a really big performance in every aspect of play as the result you would imagine is academical….
