Up next for the Plunketts is Moate All Whites
2pm, Sunday, Gaelic Grounds.
Colours: eh all White
Location: eh Moate
Background: They won the Minor championship in 2012 and 2013. Unsurprisingly majority of that team backbones this current side….Having been relegated to junior in 2011 They were beaten in the Junior Semi in 2012 and 2013 before winning the Westmeath junior this year. So they have been knocking on the door this past while and present a menacing challenge to the Plunketts.
Manager:Former Westmeath Half Forward and Louth memesis in the early Noughties Paul Conway.
Moate All whites (MAW) Most Famous son is Ger Heavin, former Westmeath star forward he is is also their selector.
Thats an impressive management package.
Star Players
Jamie Madden pictured above is a very influential player for them minor winning captain in 2012 and a real leader around the middle sector.
Also, Both Westmeath Minors from this year…
Ruairi Cunningham (Midfield)
and
Gavin Murray (Left half and a left footer)
were on both those minor winning team as 16 year olds and they are their most talented players MAW possess.
Verdict:The Plunketts have the edge there is no doubt about it…..
They have 160 minutes already under their belts in this competition …while Moate come in cold, that should stand to them.
Also, having played in the Gaelic Grounds last week will be massive factor too it’s a pitch that has its nuances.
So, it’s all there for the Plunketts, if they make use of these advantages but Moate will be a step from last week.
