Antrim Louth Preview

in County

Both promoted camps are happy, for now.

On Sunday we’re heading North for a glorified scouting mission.

I’ll be there so you don’t have to I’ll have live updates on the day.
Looking forward to seeing this ulster side, pity Casement isn’t ready yet.

I touched on it yesterday, how the round of league fixtures will have an affect on our preparations for Sunday. Here is a possible team for Sunday as a result.

Possible Team

With the Mochta’s, DYI, O’Connells, SOM and Westerns all out on Saturday that’s 6 players that started last Sunday that definitely won’t be involved the following day Why risk them?
On top of that then, there is more options off the bench the last day that won’t be available either Ryan Burns (Htown), Ruairi Moore (O’Raghs).

I’ve picked a fairly reserved side above but, with those minimum of 6 changes required CK could feel the need to experiment some more.

-Gally could come in for a rare start to keep himself sharp even though he’d have played the night before.

-A few debutants could get a sample of National League football for the first time. Robbie Curran (Clans) and Matthew Corcoran (Gers) perhaps?

-Other fringe players could come back into the reckoning and make the most of the opportunity? lads like Bevan Duffy & Ronan Holcroft (Fechins) Michael Rafferty (Cooley) and Cathal Bellew (Kilkerley)

How good are Antrim?

In a word, Very.
I’ll list off why.

1. Comfortable table toppers,
2. no nonsense Management team of Frank Fitzsimons and Gearoid Adams,
3. A team packed with star quality players,
4. Ultra-mean defence only 41 points conceded and only 1 goal in 6 matches
5. Worryingly for us, a sense of togetherness that Antrim seem to always lack is there in abundance this year.

Are they beatable…yes. but I’ll get to that closer to the final.

Sunday is about observing these boys up close.
So lets take notes, find a few flaws and flaws specifically that will help us win the final in Croker.

So who’s gonna win?

Who cares?
Antrim might want to hold on to their 100% and I think they will and possibly to their detriment.
We will care meet again three weeks time.
